Nestled in the heart of Istria, Croatia lies the charming town of Hum, known as the world's smallest town. With a population of only around 20 people, this tiny town offers a unique and unforgettable experience for visitors.

Hum's history dates back to the 11th century when it was established as a fortified town to protect against invasions. Today, Hum has preserved its medieval architecture, including a church, a bell tower, and a handful of streets lined with stone houses.

One of Hum's main attractions is the Glagolitic Alley, a walking trail that leads to the nearby town of Roč. The trail is lined with stone monuments that honor the Glagolitic script, an ancient Slavic script that was used in Croatia until the 19th century.

Despite its small size, Hum has several restaurants and taverns that offer traditional Istrian cuisine, including truffles, homemade pasta, and local wines. One of the town's most famous products is the biska, a herbal liqueur made from mistletoe that is said to have medicinal properties.

Visitors to Hum can also participate in the town's annual events, such as the Hum Day celebration held on the Sunday before the Feast of St. Jerome. During this event, locals wear traditional costumes and showcase their customs, including the preparation of homemade brandy and the making of stone souvenirs.

Before you enter Hum village you have to pay a small amount to visit the town, there is also a car parking space.

There are also few accomodation possibilities so you can use it as a grate base to visit also other Istrian villages nearby Mototvun, Buzet, Groznjan.

The hiking trail takes you by the river Mirna all the way to Buzet (12 km alltogether) passing also the charming Kotle village and offers a few bathing possibilities.
